About Gregory Arnett
Thank you for visiting my gallery here on Fine Art America and Pixels.com.
I recently enjoyed a great painting tour through Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and then back to the Adirondacks in New York. So, please check back as I will be adding new paintings from the trip to my gallery.
If you have any questions, please email me at greg@gregoryarnett.com.
Thanks again, and have a great 2014!
Artist Statement:
Most of my artwork continues the artist tradition of what I call "the big three" subjects: portrait, landscape and still life. Since moving to the Hudson River Valley in 1999, I've spent more and more time painting the local and regional landscape. The natural enviornment of the Northeast is too beautiful to ignore, and each season presents new and exciting challenges.
In recent years I've enjoyed splitting my time between painting outdoors "en Plein Air", and working in my studio, located in Marbletown, NY (about 2 hours north of Manhattan). Each manner of working teaches me more about myself as an artist, and helps me gain a deeper understanding of the timeless spirit of nature.
Over the years my work has been influenced by many of the masters of the past, but I am mostly indebted to the American and European Impressionist and Tonalist artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Some of the landscape artists whose work I've been studying recently are Edgar Payne, George Inness and John Twachtman.
